Tianne Cole's mission to Didinga     Tianne's Blog

Here is the update as promised.  It seems like so long ago since I wrote in January informing you that we were headed into the Hills.  We arrived in Nagishot on the morning of January 26th with no problems.  Flying from Loki to Didinga, I was filled with mixture of emotions.  What would this year hold?

Landing on Nagishot's dirt airstrip, seeing smiling faces and our new colleagues, Jonathen and Lorean, we were filled with peace.  From the beginning life was different in Nagishot.  The presence of Christ evident, a softness in the small body of believers easy to see.  We settled into our tents (our new homes not yet finished) and started inquiring about a possible trip to Napep.  Hector, the young man leading the small church in Napep, was very illusive every time we talked with him about going that first weekend.  That very same Sunday during church we found out why.

During church as we saw the Napep believers walking down the path, they were late and went to find seats in the back.  Unable to wait we rushed to the back and were soon engulfed among hugs.  Us three girls, Elly, Kim and I and the Didinga women all kept saying "We are so happy, so happy!"
to each other.  Among the women who did the 10 mile hike from Napep that Sunday, were my homestay Mama, Apula, and Elly's, Nakong.  The young women who Kim and I present during the birth of her son and Naboi my homestay sister.  Along with other good friends and neighbors from Napep, about 25 people in all.  It was a most wonderful and blessed day, truly a gift from God!

After church my mama proudly presented me with a young rooster :)  During our first month in Nagishot we have spent our time getting settled in the community.  Wanting to build relationships we did another homestay, spending 4 nights in a Nagishot home.  During my stay I spent the first two days harvesting wheat by hand, along side Martalena and Regina, (two grandmothers from the compound) in the hot sun.

We have taken one hike up to Napep, where we were warmly received by everyone.  We spent two nights there with our former homestay families who were happy to host us.  It is nice to have time to catch up with friends and learn about the community since we left last June.  Pastor William and Eunice were not in Nagishot when we arrived in January.  They arrived home about three weeks after us along with their son Joshua.  It was so nice to have them return!!  Joshua is doing better, but is still in need of prayers of his physical and mental health.

We are traveling back to Torit today during the three weeks until we come out again.  I will be focusing on continued language learning and relationship building while seeking God as to what my ministry focus will be when I return.  Plase pray along side me during this time, praying that God would make the path clear and give me the courage to walk down it.

I will be writing more informative updates during my time out in April, I fear my brain is not at it's finest in this 100 degree heat!  Thank you so much for your prayers and support!  Even during the silence know that I am ever gratefull!

For His Glory, Tianne
